Glyconutrients

What is a glyconutrient?

These sugars play a vital role in the structure and function of the body. In fact, scientists have identified eight sugars that impact every system in the body. But because of modern farming practises, out of the eight sugars necessary for normal health we commonly only have two in our diet today. Glyconutrients support the immune system and cell-to-cell communication, they are critically important for proper gland and organ function and for optimal health

Cells communicate with each other by way of complex sugar molecules. It is by the use of Glyconutrients that the cells have the 'alphabet' of the cellular language. It is through this form of communication that the trillions of cells in your body work together to create you as you are today.

Until recently, medical science did not know how the cells in the body worked to defend, protect, nourish and restore their selves. The fact that the body does heal itself is evident, but the actual mechanisms were unknown. Recent discoveries in science have found that complex combinations of sugar molecules on the outside of the cells, called glycoforms provide the means to communicate all the biological data.

This relatively new scientific breakthrough in the field of research called Glycobiology, has been identified as one of ten new technologies that will change the world. This discovery has led to the rewriting of Harper's Biochemistry, the textbook that will teach our next generation of doctors and health care professionals.

The amazing thing about this new field of science is that every cell in your body is already an expert. When your cells receive all the necessary Glyconutrients through nutrition; they will then have all the components for normal cellular function, just as nature intended. In other words every cell in your body will have the necessary nutrients to help you maintain optimal health.

What sort of things do cells talk about?

Every cell needs to be recognized by the immune system in order to be defended if under attack from a virus or bacteria, it needs to be repaired when damaged, it needs feeding to give it energy, it needs to be regulated by hormones so that it can operate in synchronization with all the other cells in your body and it needs to be cleansed as it collects and builds up toxins during its normal daily functions, as well as exposure to many more toxins from our toxic environment.

Your body cannot effectively detoxify it's self without proper cell-to-cell communication, doctors are now beginning to realise that all serious illness starts at the cellular level and when the cell is suffocated by a toxic overload it will come to the point of malfunction.

People with health issues often have glycoforms that are less than structurally correct. Usually this may be because their body has insufficient quantities of one or more of these basic sugars and is then unable to correctly build the necessary glycoforms.

In a recent experiment, researchers radioactively tagged three Glyconutrient sugar molecules (glucose, galactose and mannose), and then monitored their activity when ingested. The sugars went into the blood stream and directly to the cells to create new glycoforms.

In spite of all the scientific information available, it is important to understand that all this science is just about good nutrition. When we fully nourish the body we are providing the raw materials necessary for life long health. Good nutrition is something we require every day. When we are ill, our nutritional requirements are often greater.
